Bre Andy (b. 1994) is a figurative oil painter exploring intimacy, sexuality, and self-observation through portraiture and still life. Her introspective works reflect the quieter, fleeting moments of womanhood. Within private, contemplative scenes—undressing, reclining alone, gazes fixed just out of frame—Andy depicts autonomous subjects whose agency and interiority are central. These figures become conduits for processing her own relationship to identity, emotion, and materiality with a diaristic sensibility—tightly cropped compositions and softly blended brushwork balance voyeurism with tenderness and delicacy with depth. Paired with still-life vignettes of the surrounding interiors, the corners of the room are revealed, filling the negative space around the portraits. Viewers are invited into the internal conversation the figures have with themselves and, in turn, with whoever is looking.
